Like all social media it does have a specific market. Facebook tends to be very consumer based and informal. Twitter is about the here and now and focus on what trends each day. LinkedIn is target the Professional business market but Google+ is sort of a bridge between Consumer and Professional. If you use Google+ you will know quite alot of the exciting things you can do with it, how it integrates with some of Googles other services.
What are the Google+ Basic’s ?
Basically, Google+ is an amalgamation of several services we already use. The idea, according to Google, was to do them better. If you know about Google + then you probably want to scroll down passed this point, if you have never used google + or you have just a curiosity about things you may have missed then read on.
- “Circles” groups your friends together.
Google Circles are groups of friends you organize by topic: Friends, Family, College Buddies, Roommates, etc. From your Circles page you drag and drop your contacts into each of these groups, which makes it easier to share what you want with them.
- Sparks helps you find interesting content based on interest
Sparks is like Google Reader, except it brings content to you automatically based on your interests. Each topic (tech, kitties, whatever) will get its own “Spark” page and provide links to related articles, videos, photos, etc.

- Hangouts lets you video chat with all your buddies
Hangouts are virtual rooms where you can video chat with people in your circles. For example, if you’re not busy, you can start a talk with your pals.
So, basically, it’s just video chat.
- How do you get to Google+?
So how do you access Google+? You can go to http://plus.google.com or link via Gmail,Calandar or other services. Google+ is on Android and iOS too. Once you receive your Google+ invite, you can download the app here. It includes a Twitter-like “stream” of updates from your friends.
So you sort of have a highish level over view take a look ,and when you are comfortable its time to get involved in the groups.
